About the role

Summary: The Machine Builder is responsible for layout and build of mechanical components used on tooling systems.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Analyzes assembly blueprint and specifications manual, and plans machine building operations
2. Fits and assembles tools, details and other components using engineering drawings, customer specifications, and technical manuals. 
3. Verifies conformance of parts to stock list blueprints, using measuring instruments, like calipers, gauges, and micrometers. Identify mechanical issues and recommend adjustments or repairs as needed.
4. Build assembly components, using bolts, pins, clamps, screws, rivets, or other methods. 
5. Assembles, set up, operates machine to verify functioning, machine capabilities, and conformance to customers specifications. May test operation of assembly by hand.
6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on issues that arise.
7. Adhere to company policies and ensure compliance with safety requirements.
8. All other duties as assigned

Education & Skills Requirements:

1. 2+ years of machine or tool building experience 
2. High School Diploma or GED equivalent
3. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and successfully layout equipment according to blueprints
4. Properly handle and safely use variety of hand power tools including but not limited to saws, grinders, sanders, drills, precision measurement instruments.  Builders typically supply their own tools.
5. High regard for safety standards
6. Knowledge of mechanical standards, tooling assembly & setup
7. Ability to operate forklift and crane
8. Strong written and oral communication skills

Work Environment: This position operates in a plant and manufacturing environment.

Work type & Expected hours of work:  Regularly works on-site at local locations. This position is for regular, full-time work and may require coming in early, working late, or working on weekends to meet the needs of the business.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and twist. May be required to lift/push/pull up to 25lbs.

Travel: This position requires some out of town and overnight travel.
