SENIOR QUALITY INSPECTOR

Calgary-based | 4-month Contract | Manufacturing Industry


Our client, a Calgary-based manufacturing company, has engaged us to find a skilled Senior Quality Inspector for a 4-month contract position to provide coverage during a planned medical leave. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced quality professional to join a precision-focused team and make an immediate impact.


ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Quality Subject Matter Expert (SME) on site, you will oversee and perform all inspection activities to ensure products meet internal standards, customer specifications, and applicable regulations. You will play a key lead role during the contract period and work closely with cross-functional teams to uphold product integrity and compliance.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    Champion a strong safety culture; follow all safety policies, identify hazards, and support corrective actions.

2.    Lead and perform detailed inspections of production materials to ensure conformance with internal standards, customer requirements, and regulatory requirements.

3.    Serve as the quality inspection lead for licensed and proprietary technologies, including external-thread specifications, ensuring full compliance with licensing agreements.

4.    Identify non-conforming materials or processes; initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and support containment and resolution activities.

5.    Provide technical guidance, training, and mentoring to Quality Inspectors, Machinists, and other relevant personnel to ensure consistency in inspection and documentation.

6.    Support internal quality audits, audit readiness activities, and implementation of corrective actions arising from audit findings.

7.    Maintain QA monitoring programs including measurement system calibration, process controls, supplier quality audits, and documentation management.

8.    Collaborate with cross-functional teams on new product development initiatives, applying quality tools to validate processes.

9.    Participate in root cause investigations and corrective/preventive action planning to drive long-term quality improvements.

10. Oversee the calibration and maintenance of all inspection and measuring equipment in accordance with QA policies and documented schedules.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment, including ISO 9001 quality systems and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated leadership in inspection, auditing, or QA programs, including mentoring or training of internal personnel.
  • Extensive hands-on experience inspecting high-precision machined parts.
  • Strong working knowledge of inspection processes, standards, and documentation.
  • Skilled in the selection and use of precision measurement instruments: calipers, micrometers (ID/OD), depth gauges, and other shop inspection tools.
  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and quality control plans.
  • Experience with licensed technology inspection, including adherence to proprietary standards and processes.
  • Solid understanding of CNC machining, tooling, and shop floor operations.
  • Working knowledge of non-conformance investigations.
  • Experience operating or interpreting data from a coordinate-measuring machine (CMM); programming experience is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Jobboss2 or similar ERP systems is an asset.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl in a shop environment.
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 50 lbs (assistance available for 50+ lbs).
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and elevated noise levels.
  • Close vision and the ability to adjust focus are required.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position.
  • Minimal to no travel required.
