Project Manager – Calgary, AB

Confidential | Tier-A General Contractor

About the Company

This is an opportunity to join one of Canada's premier Tier-A general contractors — a well-established, nationally recognized builder with a strong and deeply rooted presence in the Calgary market. They've built a reputation not just on the quality of their work, but on the quality of their people. Long tenure isn't a talking point here — it's a reality. They invest in their teams, promote from within, and create an environment where people actually want to stay.

The culture is collaborative, safety-first, and genuinely people-focused. This isn't a "yell and point fingers" environment — it's a team that solves problems together, respects the trades, and shows up with a calm, professional presence no matter what the project throws at them. If you thrive in that kind of culture, you'll fit right in.

The Opportunity

They're looking for an experienced Project Manager to join their Calgary office and contribute to a diverse and exciting portfolio of work. Whether you want to plant roots locally or eventually explore opportunities across other offices and regions, there's a path for that here.

This role offers real variety — from large-scale multi-family residential to public sector, light industrial, commercial, and more. There's genuinely something for everyone, and the work keeps growing.

What You'll Be Working On

The portfolio spans a wide range of project types, including:

  • Multi-family residential — High-volume, 6-storey wood frame construction (400+ unit complexes)
  • Public sector — City of Calgary, Province of Alberta, and YYC airport work
  • Light industrial — Warehouse and industrial projects making a strong comeback
  • Commercial — Larger-scale commercial new-build and renovation projects
  • Hospitality/Resort/mountain communities — Have built exciting landmark projects in Canmore and Banff

You'll be expected to independently run projects in the $20M–$35M range, and on larger, more complex builds you may be part of a broader project team with defined scope ownership.

What They're Looking For

Experience & Background

  • 5–8 years of progressive construction experience, with meaningful time on the GC side
  • Exposure to projects of similar scale and complexity with a reputable general contractor
  • Strong technical fundamentals — construction is construction, and you know how to get it done

Who You Are

  • Safety isn't a checkbox for you — it's how you operate, every day
  • You're collaborative by nature and know how to build trust with trades and internal teams alike
  • When things get stressful (and they will), you bring people together rather than push them apart
  • You solve problems on the ground, not from behind a desk
  • Calm, professional, and solutions-oriented — even under pressure

Strong candidates will be able to speak clearly to:

  • Their personal approach to job site safety
  • How they manage a project from start to finish
  • How they lead, motivate, and hold people accountable
  • How they handle conflict — with trades, subs, owners, and internally
  • What they do when the pressure is on and they need to reset and refocus

Why This Role

  • Join a company that genuinely prioritizes long-term career growth — low turnover, strong internal culture, employee-ownership model
  • Work on a diverse portfolio that keeps the work interesting year over year
  • Be part of a tight-knit Calgary team that takes pride in what they build and how they build it
  • Opportunity to travel and work in other offices/regions if that's something you're interested in
  • A culture where you're treated like a professional and expected to act like one

This position is being recruited on a confidential basis. Company name will be disclosed to qualified candidates during the interview process.
