Site Superintendent – National General Contractor (Halifax Operations)

Due to continued growth in Atlantic Canada, they are seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to join their Halifax operations team.

Position Overview
The Site Superintendent will be responsible for leading all on-site construction activities from project start-up through close-out. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Superintendent will ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within scope, and to the highest standards of quality.
This role is ideal for a strong field leader who values accountability, teamwork, and building lasting relationships with local trades and partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage day-to-day site operations
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, and on-site personnel
- Ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, Nova Scotia Building Code, and safety regulations
- Maintain and drive project schedules; proactively manage sequencing and resolve conflicts
- Champion site safety and enforce company OH&S standards
- Conduct regular site meetings and provide updates to Project Management
- Oversee quality control processes and ensure timely resolution of deficiencies
- Maintain accurate site documentation including daily reports, safety records, and progress tracking
- Build strong working relationships with clients, consultants, inspectors, and local trade partners
- Mentor junior field staff and contribute to continuous operational improvement
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Site Superintendent with a general contractor
- Experience delivering commercial, institutional, and/or multi-unit residential projects
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and field coordination
- Solid knowledge of Nova Scotia building codes and OH&S regulations
- Proven leadership, communication, and team-building skills
- Ability to problem-solve effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with construction documentation and project management software
- Red Seal certification or trade background considered an asset
