Digital Construction Coordinator (VDC/BIM Coordinator)
The Digital Construction Coordinator will support the successful delivery of construction projects through the implementation and coordination of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes. Reporting to the Digital Construction Manager, this individual will work closely with project teams, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure effective model coordination, schedule visualization, and digital construction integration across all phases of the project lifecycle.
This position will require periodic travel to project sites throughout the Atlantic to support project teams and ensure the successful deployment of digital construction initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Construction & Project Coordination
- Support the deployment and execution of Digital Construction initiatives on active projects.
- Coordinate BIM/VDC activities between consultants, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
- Identify and assist in resolving constructability and coordination issues through model review and collaboration.
- Participate in pre-construction planning and provide ongoing support throughout project execution.
- Assist project teams and subcontractors with digital construction workflows, software usage, and best practices.
Model Management & Accuracy
- Coordinate and manage project models to ensure accuracy and alignment with project-specific requirements.
- Work collaboratively with consultants, site teams, and subcontractors to maintain current and coordinated models.
- Facilitate 3D laser scanning and point cloud coordination activities.
- Manage the incorporation of facilities management and asset information into project models where required.
- Maintain and distribute updated models in accordance with project change management procedures.
- Compile and organize VDC/BIM close-out documentation at project completion.
Schedule Visualization & Site Logistics
- Assist project teams with the development and implementation of schedule visualization processes and workflows.
- Create and maintain site logistics plans in a model-based environment.
- Prepare Look Ahead Schedules and support schedule-based planning initiatives.
- Produce 4D simulations and visual presentations as needed to support project coordination and communication.
- Educate site teams on the effective use of schedule visualization tools and processes.
Consultant & Trade Coordination
- Foster strong working relationships with consultants, designers, subcontractors, and trade partners.
- Coordinate the collection, review, and integration of consultant BIM models.
- Liaise with consultant Model Managers and Coordinators to resolve model discrepancies and maintain alignment.
- Lead and facilitate model coordination meetings with project stakeholders.
- Support the administration and implementation of BIM Execution Plans in accordance with project and client requirements.
- Coordinate model reviews with internal teams and subcontractor detailers, while maintaining coordination records and sign-offs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Engineering degree, diploma, or an equivalent combination of technical education and relevant construction industry experience.
- Experience working with BIM/VDC technologies and platforms including Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Revizto, and Navisworks Manage.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and coordination processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with scheduling software such as MS Project and/or Primavera P6.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple stakeholders.
- Organized, self-motivated, and capable of working in a fast-paced project environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Positive team-oriented attitude with a strong commitment to project success.
