CIVIL ESTIMATOR

Underground Utilities & Civil Infrastructure

Kelowna, BC  |  Confidential Search

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are recruiting a Civil Estimator on behalf of a well-established civil contracting firm based in Kelowna, BC, with a strong regional presence across the Okanagan. The company specializes in underground utilities and civil infrastructure, and is in a period of active growth — pursuing more complex, higher-value projects across the region.

This is an opportunity for the right person to step into estimating and grow with a company that believes in developing talent from within. The client is not looking for someone set in their ways — they want a motivated, forward-thinking individual who brings field credibility, strong communication skills, and a genuine interest in building a long-term career in civil estimating.

WHO THEY'RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate fits one of two profiles:

Profile A — Junior to Mid-Level Estimator

  • Background in civil construction with exposure to underground utilities scopes
  • Strong organizational and relationship-building skills
  • Looking for an estimating role with clear growth potential

Profile B — Field Professional or Project Manager Ready to Move into Estimating

  • Solid hands-on experience in underground utilities (water, sewer, storm, or similar)
  • Polished, professional, and comfortable in client-facing conversations
  • Eager to transition off the tools and build a career on the business side
  • Estimating experience is a plus but not required — the right candidate will be trained
  • Some estimating or quantity takeoff experience in a PM or coordinator capacity would be an asset

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for underground utilities and civil projects
  • Use Bluebeam for digital takeoffs and HeavyBid for estimate preparation
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and tender documents
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of bids and proposals
  • Support project handoff to operations upon award
  • Build and maintain relationships with owners, consultants, and trades
  • Collaborate with field leadership to ensure estimates reflect real-world conditions

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Direct experience with underground utilities — this is essential
  • Strong communication skills — written, verbal, and in the field
  • A professional, relationship-oriented approach to business development
  • Comfort working independently and managing competing deadlines
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam and/or HeavyBid is an asset; training is available
  • A desire to grow within the company — not just fill a seat

WHY THIS ROLE

🏗  Growth from Within

Trained and mentored — not thrown in the deep end

📍  Rooted in the Okanagan

Local company, local projects — no constant travel

📈  Growing Pipeline

Active pursuit of more complex, higher-value work

🤝  Culture of Ownership

People who take pride in their work and back each other

This is a confidential search. The hiring company will not be disclosed until later in the process. To express interest or to refer a qualified candidate, please apply or reach out directly to Parker Evans (parker.evans@twinstaffing.com). All inquiries will be handled with complete discretion.
