JOB DESCRIPTION – Controls Engineer
Summary/Objective

The Controls Engineer will perform activities associated with controls design and engineering for the machine tool industry. This includes close interaction with project teams in a positive and focused manner to realize productive results. Clear inter-departmental communication is necessary, as are frequent customer discussions. The individual must also provide accurate and high-quality work with minimal supervision.
Essential Functions
· Coordinate and balance workload using both internal and external resources to complete scheduled engineering activities as required.
· Work with all local, regional, and federal regulations, assuring that designs and applications meet and/or exceed compliance.
· Startup and debug of hardware and software on all Gehring Honing machines.
· Implementation of machine communications networks.
· Ensure all customer software specifications are followed.
· Support customer controls signoffs.
· Installation support at customer facilities.

· Technical knowledge of Siemens PLC software, Siemens TIA Portal HMI software, Siemen Drives, WinCC HMI software, Rexroth Drives, Rockwell Software a plus.

· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to leverage previous experience.
· Communication proficiency.
Work Environment
This job operates in an office and indoor industrial shop floor setting and requires presence with occasional visits to customer sites.
Required Education and Experience
· Electrical engineering degree or equivalent applied engineering experience.
· Five years minimum experience in design application in the machine tool industry.
· Must be a team-oriented person with the ability and desire to monitor, motivate, and train staff members.
