Twin Staffing is proud to partner with one of Western Canada’s most respected engineering and environmental firms to recruit a Senior Geotechnical Engineer. This is a key technical leadership role within a dynamic and growing multi-disciplinary team working on a wide range of impactful municipal, commercial, residential, and industrial projects.

This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced geotechnical engineer to take ownership of complex designs, guide project execution from start to finish, and play a visible leadership role in mentoring junior staff and supporting client development.

The Opportunity

In this role, you’ll be the technical lead on challenging projects involving:

  • Foundations (shallow and deep)
  • Slope stability and earthworks
  • Retaining systems, excavations, and shoring
  • Ground improvement and geotechnical risk mitigation

You’ll oversee geotechnical investigations, manage field programs, lead analysis and design, and deliver high-quality technical reports and drawing packages. As the go-to for both internal teams and external clients, you’ll combine strong technical expertise with exceptional communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and execution of complex geotechnical projects from investigation through construction support
  • Perform advanced geotechnical analyses and numerical modeling using tools such as GeoStudio (Slope/W, Sigma/W), WALLAP, Plaxis, etc.
  • Oversee and participate in geotechnical site investigations, including borehole/test pit supervision, logging, and interpretation
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and stamped deliverables
  • Provide construction support including field reviews, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with design intent
  • Mentor and lead junior engineers, technologists, and EITs
  • Manage project scope, schedule, and budget to ensure profitability and client satisfaction
  • Collaborate closely with civil, structural, and environmental teams to ensure seamless project delivery
  • Serve as a client-facing lead: develop and maintain strong relationships and contribute to business development activities
  • Support proposal writing, fee estimating, and pursuit of new project opportunities
  • Stay current with geotechnical trends, codes, and best practices
  • Maintain quality control and assurance on all deliverables
  • Participate in strategy development and growth planning for the geotechnical division

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Geological, or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus; Master’s degree preferred
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in BC (or eligible for registration)
  • 8+ years of geotechnical design and consulting experience, ideally within a multi-disciplinary firm
  • Proven expertise in soil and rock mechanics, foundation design, slope stability, seismic analysis, and shoring
  • Deep understanding of Canadian building codes and geotechnical regulations
  • Experience working with complex subsurface conditions and developing innovative solutions
  • Proficiency with geotechnical modeling and analysis software (GeoStudio, WALLAP, Plaxis, etc.)
  • Strong project management skills and ability to lead technical delivery
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience
  • Excellent client-facing skills and ability to represent the firm professionally
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for site visits and meetings

Why This Role?

This is more than a senior engineering position — it’s a chance to shape the future of geotechnical engineering in a growing practice with a firm known for its collaborative culture and technical excellence. You'll have the support and autonomy to make a real impact while enjoying:

  • Complex, high-impact project work
  • Leadership opportunities with visibility across the firm
  • Supportive environment with strong mentorship culture
  • Competitive compensation, full benefits, and bonus potential
  • Flexibility in work location across British Columbia
